The Carlyle Group has established a team to conduct private equity investments in Central and Eastern Europe. The Warsaw, Poland-based team will be headed by managing director Ryszard Wojtkowski. Carlyle co-founder and managing director Daniel A D'Aniello said, 'We see long-term opportunity in Central and Eastern Europe. Ryszard's depth and breadth of experience in the financial markets will prove to be great assets as Carlyle establishes itself in this region.'
Carlyle's CEE team will make growth capital and buy-out investments in companies operating in various industry sectors. With the addition of a CEE team, the geographic scope of Carlyle's investment capabilities will extend to Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and the Baltic States. In addition to countries that have already joined the European Union, investments may also be considered in Croatia, Serbia and the Ukraine.
Wojtkowski joins Carlyle from Enterprise Investors, where he was managing partner. Prior to Enterprise Investors, he was president of Novartis Consumer Health International in Switzerland.
