Stratus Group appoints Carlos Kokron to lead its venture capital practice31/08/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
 Stratus Group, a private partnership that manages venture capital, private equity and mezzanine funds, has appointed Carlos Kokron as managing director to lead its venture capital practice. Kokron will be responsible for identifying new investment opportunities and broadening Stratus' venture capital investor base.
The firm's venture capital funds provide capital to companies operating in the IT, communications and manufacturing and also clean technologies and biotechnology sectors.
Kokron was most recently Intel Capital's US South West regional director. From 1999 to 2004 he built Intel Capital's Latin America operation, based in São Paulo.
'There is a large number of investment opportunities in the sectors we are targeting,' said Kokron. 'In addition, the Brazilian VC industry has attained a maturity level that effectively allows the development of healthy companies that are bound to provide superior returns to entrepreneurs and investors alike. The trend is for Brazil to attract ever increasing amounts of international capital seeking to participate in Brazil's growth, despite recent volatilities.'
