Carlyle acquires Mexican company Arabela from Advent, Procorp12/10/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
The Carlyle Group has acquired Mexican door-to-door beauty retailer Arabela from buy-out firm Advent International and holding company Procorp. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. Arabela, founded in 1991, has approximately 1,300 employees. The company offers an assortment of fragrances, toiletries, beauty, health and other personal-care items.
Joaquín Avila, managing director and head of the Carlyle Mexico buy-out team, said, 'This is a great step for Arabela. It marks the completion of a successful stage of development for the company under Procorp and Advent. Carlyle is excited about the tremendous potential of the direct sales model and looks forward to building on Arabela's strong position as a preeminent player in the Mexican door-to-door market.'
Alfredo Alfaro, a partner at Advent in Mexico City, added, 'This transaction marks the end of a cycle, which Procorp began in creating the company and which Advent is proud to have been part of for the past nine years. Arabela has significant potential to increase its presence, diversify geographies and enhance its product offering.'
Arabela will continue to be led by CEO Walter Biel and his senior management team.
