Vestar to acquire Radiation Therapy Services in $1.1bn deal24/10/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
Private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners has agreed to purchase Radiation Therapy Services, an operator of freestanding radiation treatment centres in the US. Vestar has agreed to buy the company for $32.50 per share, plus assumed debt. The deal is worth $1.1bn. The board of directors of Radiation Therapy Services has approved the merger agreement and recommends that the company's shareholders adopt the agreement.
Radiation Therapy Services provides clinically advanced radiation therapy services to cancer patients. The company's 83 treatment centres are located in 27 markets in 16 states including Arizona, California, Florida and North Carolina.
The Radiation Therapy Services management team will reinvest a significant amount in the company and will hold an important equity position, according to a statement. In addition, a new management equity incentive programme is expected to be put in place to further involve the company's leadership in the ongoing business.
Vestar focuses on investments in the US, Europe and Japan. The firm currently manages funds with committed capital totalling approximately $7bn.
