US private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners has opened a further office in Europe. The new Munich office adds to the firm's other locations in Continental European: Paris and Milan. The four-strong German team, headed by Jens Tonn, will further develop the firm's business in the German-speaking region. Prior to Vestar, Tonn spent nine years at Candover, where most recently he was managing director with responsibility for the firm's operations in Germany. Before Candover, Tonn was the head of M&A for Germany and Austria at Citicorp. He previously also worked in the private equity division of Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt.
'Expanding to Germany with Jens is the next logical step in our pan-European growth strategy,' said Robert Rosner, president of Vestar Capital Partners Europe. 'Our philosophy starts with investing in great people. Jens Tonn's expertise and leadership will fit in perfectly with our organisation,' he added.
Joining Tonn in the Munich office will be Daniel Boege, who joins Vestar Capital as a vice president, having previously spent five years at Permira.
Vestar currently manages funds of approximately $7bn and provides capital for MBO and growth capital investments. Its investment strategy is focused on companies in the US, Europe and Asia with valuations ranging from $100m to $5bn.
Outside of Europe, Vestar has offices or affiliates operating in New York, Denver, Boston and Tokyo.
