Graphite backs £100m MBO of Alexander Mann Solutions from Advent06/12/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
UK mid-market private equity firm Graphite Capital has backed the £100m MBO of UK recruitment process outsourcing solutions provider Alexander Mann Solutions from Advent International. The company's senior management team, led by chief executive Rosaleen Blair, is investing in the buy-out. Graphite is putting £50m into the transaction for a majority stake in the business. This is the first investment from the firm's new fund, Graphite Capital Partners VII, which closed in May of this year on £475m.
Graphite partner Mike Tilbury said, 'AMS has a leading position in this high growth outsourcing market and is run by a fantastic management team. Through the quality of its operations, it has won long-term contracts with some of the biggest companies in the world and has a clear strategy for growth with existing and new clients in Europe, the Far East, Australasia and North America.'
John Singer, the Advent managing director who led the investment, added, 'Advent's partnership with AMS has been a very exciting one. We have worked very closely with its first class management team over several years to achieve its current leadership position and growth within the international market. We wish the company continuing success with its new backer, Graphite.'
Mike Tilbury, Jenny Michelman, Simon ffitch, Mudassir Khan and John O'Neill managed the transaction for Graphite.
Graphite focuses on MBOs, MBIs, expansion and replacement capital and turnaround opportunities. The firm typically invests in transactions with enterprise values of between £25m and £200m. It manages more than £1.2bn through three private funds and the publicly quoted Graphite Enterprise Trust.
Graphite's previous fund, Graphite Capital Partners VI, has invested in 15 companies including Park Holidays UK, a holiday home and caravan park operator in the South of England; Micheldever Tyre Services, a wholesaler of car, 4x4 and motorcycle tyres; NES, a technical recruitment business with clients in the oil and gas, infrastructure, rail and power sectors; sk:n, a provider of non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the UK; and outsourced staffing group Aktrion.
