VantagePoint hires new managing directors, venture partners07/12/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
Venture capital firm VantagePoint Venture Partners has made a series of new senior appointments. Tom Bevilacqua and Bill Harding have been hired as the new managing directors and co-heads of its Information Technology Practice Group, Craig Cooper has also been appointed to the Information Technology Practice Group as a venture partner and Dave Thompson has been made a venture partner in the Healthcare Practice Group. Bevilacqua served as a managing partner at early stage venture capital fund ArrowPath Venture Partners, a firm he co-founded seven years ago. Prior to ArrowPath, he served as an executive vice president of trading website E*TRADE Financial, where he established E*TRADE's acquisition and investment strategies.
Harding joined VantagePoint from Morgan Stanley Venture Partners where he was a managing member. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Harding was a general partner of several venture capital partnerships affiliated with J. H. Whitney & Co. Previously, he was with Amdahl Corporation serving in various technical and business development roles and also held several technical positions with Honeywell Information Systems.
Cooper was formerly a partner at Softbank Capital where he led the West Coast Digital Media and Wireless Investment Group. Prior to joining SoftBank Capital he was the co-founder of Boost Mobile USA, which was sold to Nextel Communications. He also co-founded the independent energy companies NRG Asia-Pacific and Private Energy Partners, which developed and owned over AUS$5bn in energy projects in the Asia Pacific region.
Thompson has had a 30-year career with Eli Lilly and its affiliates. He most recently led the corporate strategy, business development‚ corporate ventures, finance and investment banking and alliance management organisations within the company.
VantagePoint Venture Partners has over $4bn of capital under management, invested in entrepreneurial companies at all stages of development in the CleanTech, healthcare and Information Technology sectors. The firm has the capacity to invest in excess of $100m in support of a single company. Most often the firm acts as a lead investor, with typical pre-IPO funding in the $15-50m range.
