European mid-market private equity firm Barclays Private Equity has sold UK company The Original Factory Shop to Duke Street Capital in a £68.5m secondary MBO transaction. The Burnley, Lancashire-headquartered retailer sells products including clothing, electrical goods, toiletries and homeware.
John Walker, director of Barclays Private Equity in Manchester, said, 'The performance of The Original Factory Shop since the appointment of George Foster has been extremely strong and he has nurtured an experienced and loyal team. We believe the company is well positioned with its niche in the value retail sector, and have enjoyed working with the management team and wish them every success for the future.'
DSC considers all investment opportunities, but particularly focuses on the retail and consumer, leisure, healthcare, financial services and business services sectors. Its other investments in the retail and consumer sectors have included Sandpiper CI (formerly CI Traders), a retailer in the Channel Islands.
