Venture Investment Associates VI closes on $225m14/12/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
 Venture Investment Management Co. has closed its latest private equity fund of funds, Venture Investment Associates VI, on $225m, the target and hard cap of the fund.
Investors in the fund include US non-profit institutions and high-net-worth families, in addition to a few corporate plans. The general partner has made a 'significant capital commitment' to the fund.
Venture Investment Associates VI is expected to invest in 20 to 25 venture capital, growth equity and buy-out limited partnerships. To date ten commitments have been made from the new fund, the firm told AltAssets.
VIA managing director Jason P Andris said, 'We are extremely pleased with the strong support received from a group of very high quality investors. We look forward to rewarding their confidence in VIA's strategy and management team. It is unfortunate that we were not able to accommodate all of the interest, but raising too large a fund works against our goal of generating superior returns.'
VIA manages nearly $1bn across six funds. Its previous fund, Venture Investment Associates V, closed on $182.5m in 2002. The firm acquired the private equity portfolio of the American Express Company in 1993.
