Technology venture capital firm Globespan Capital Partners has appointed Dr Daniel V Leff as venture partner. Based in the firm's Palo Alto office, Dr Leff, alongside managing directors Ullas Naik and Dave Fachetti, will focus on cleantech investments companies. He will also work on investments in the semiconductor-related technology field. Leff joins Globespan from Harris & Harris Group, where he was an executive vice president and managing director. Prior to joining Harris & Harris Group, Dr Leff was with Sevin Rosen Funds and Redpoint Ventures. Previously he also held engineering, marketing and strategic investment positions with Intel Corporation.
'Daniel's scientific background brings additional technical depth to our investing process,' said Globespan co-founder and executive managing director Andy Goldfarb. 'The combination of this expertise with his investment management experience is a terrific addition to our team.'
Globespan has offices in Boston, Palo Alto and Tokyo. The firm primarily targets US and Japan-based companies in the software, internet/infrastructure, communications, systems and peripherals and cleantech sectors, with a typical investment ranging from $250,000 to $15m.
Its portfolio companies have included Airgate PCS, Avanex, BladeLogic, Brocade, CDS, Clearwire, Digital Island, Glu Mobile, Net Perceptions, Ocular Networks, ShoreTel, Silknet Software, Virtusa and Vixel.
