Pan-European venture capital firm Wellington Partners has hired web entrepreneur Loïc Le Meur to join its venture partner programme. Le Meur will support Wellington's portfolio companies in the field of digital media and internet services. 'Our portfolio companies will profit hugely from Loïc's invaluable knowledge and network,' said Wellington general partner Eric Archambeau. 'We feel privileged by his involvement with our firm and are looking forward to work with him closely in the coming years.'
Le Meur moved to San Francisco in 2007 to start his own company, Seesmic.
Wellington's venture partners advise and support portfolio companies in their strategic planning, executive hires and business development activities. They may also serve on their board of directors or advisory boards.
Existing venture partners include Royston Hoggarth, former CEO of Cable & Wireless UK; George Colliat, group vice president at Oracle; Fred van den Bosch, former founding CTO of Veritas; and Ram Srinivasan, former CEO of Fireclick and a full-time venture partner in the firm's Palo Alto office.
In January of this year, Wellington Partners closed its latest fund, Wellington Partners IV Technology, on €265m, above its €250m target.
