Venture-backed data centre automation business BladeLogic has agreed to be acquired by software company BMC Software for approximately $800m. The company had previously received investments from Battery Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Globespan Capital Partners and MK Capital.
Bladelogic raised some $35m over four financing rounds between the company's founding in 2001 and 2005.
In the first financing round, BladeLogic raised $6m in 2001. The original backers were Battery and Bessemer. A Series B round took place in 2003, which saw Globespan join Battery and Bessemer in a $10m fundraising.
A fourth and final round of fundraising took place in 2005, in which MK Capital also participated. All four investors put a combined $7m into that round.
