Carlyle completes €1.1bn investment in Completel and Numericable25/03/2008. Source: AltAssets. 
The Carlyle Group has completed its €1.1bn equity investment in Numericable and Completel. Carlyle has become a shareholder in the French cable companies alongside European buy-out firm Cinven and European media and telecommunications investor Altice, the existing shareholders. Carlyle acquired a 37.8 per cent stake from Altice and Cinven. The deal values the two companies at a combined €6.5bn.
Numericable provides high definition television, video-on-demand, internet and telephony services.
Completel offers services to corporate customers using an alternative metropolitan fibre access network and digital subscriber line network in France.
Benoît Colas, managing director, Carlyle, said, 'We are delighted to have completed a major investment in Numericable and Completel, two companies with excellent growth opportunities based upon the superior quality of their fibre networks.'
