Aureos acquires 30 per cent of South African company Sandbox Holdings27/03/2008. Source: AltAssets.
Emerging markets-focused private equity firm Aureos Capital's Aureos Southern Africa Fund has acquired a 30 per cent equity stake in South Africa-based electronic security and business software company Sandbox Holdings. Sandbox Holdings provides electronic building management and security services and business software. It has two main operations: Sitronix, which provides control and security systems; and Sandbox Projects, which provides implementation and support for Microsoft-based business software solutions.
The transaction was structured to allow a further 20 per cent of the company to be allocated to black empowerment partners.
Ron den Besten, managing partner of ASAF, said, 'Microsoft ERP solutions are particularly suited to the medium-sized business market across Africa and the building controls and security side of the business should benefit from the current expansion of the continent's construction and real estate sectors.'
Aureos Capital specialises in providing expansion and buy-out capital to unlisted mid-market businesses in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The firm is in the process of raising capital for the $100m Aureos Central Asia Fund, the $300m Aureos Latin America Fund and the $400m Aureos Africa Fund.
