Providence Equity Partners has appointed Andrew Tisdale as a managing director in the firm's London office. In his new role, he will be involved with existing portfolio companies and in developing new investments for the firm. Tisdale joins Providence from Morgan Stanley, where he was co-global head of the Media and Communications Group and a member of the firm's management committee for investment banking. He joined Morgan Stanley in 1990.
Providence specialises in equity investments in media, entertainment, communications and information companies. The firm has approximately $21bn under management.
Its investments have included Bresnan Broadband Holdings, Casema, Com Hem, Digiturk, Freedom Communications, Hulu, Kabel Deutschland, Ono, Open Solutions, PanAmSat, ProSiebenSat.1, Recoletos, TDC, Univision, Warner Music Group, Western Wireless and Yankees Entertainment Sports Network.
Newport Television, a holding company formed by Providence, recently announced that it had completed its acquisition of Clear Channel's Television Group, under revised terms. With working capital adjustments, Providence paid $1.012bn, a $212.5m or 17 per cent reduction to the original purchase price.
Providence is headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, and has offices in Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New Delhi and New York.
