3i has invested £50m in London-based insurance group Hyperion for a minority stake in the company. The transaction values the company at approximately £120m. Hyperion focuses on specialist insurances including professional indemnity and directors' and officers' liability through its subsidiaries: Howden, DUAL and CFC. The company plans to use 3i's investment to further expand the firm, both in terms of the product range it provides and the territories in which it operates. Hyperion is targeting growth in the Middle East and Asia.
This investment follows 3i's investments in Jelf Group, ACR, BestInvest, Fulcrum, KNEIP and Gain Capital.
3i invests across Europe, the US and Asia.
