San Francisco-based private equity firm Serent Capital has closed its inaugural fund on $250m, exceeding its initial target of $200m. Investors comprise university endowments, fund of funds investors and family offices, including Harvard Management Company, Horsley Bridge, Adams Street and the private office of the Ziff family.
Serent Capital focuses on buy-outs and recapitalisations of companies with less than $50m in revenue.
David Kennedy, partner and co-founder, added, 'Having led a successful services company, I have experienced both the thrills and the challenges of driving growth. Helping CEOs navigate those same challenges has been rewarding for me as a personal investor and board member, and I am looking forward to partnering with Serent's portfolio company CEOs to help build great businesses.'
Serent Capital was founded by Kennedy and Kevin Frick. Kennedy most recently was the president of ServiceSource, while Frick most recently was a partner at McKinsey & Company, leading their West Coast Private Equity Practice.
