The UK arm of energy-focused investment bank Simmons & Company International has closed its inaugural private equity co-investment fund for the energy sector, Simmons Parallel Energy, on €87.5m. Simmons Parallel Energy will focus on buy-out and growth capital co-investment opportunities across the energy sector.
Among the investors are high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors including cornerstone investor Bank of Scotland.
Colin Welsh, chief executive, Simmons & Company, said, 'The long-term outlook for the energy sector is extremely positive. Higher commodity prices and a persistently tight supply/demand balance will continue to boost spending across the sector and create attractive investment opportunities in three key areas: oilfield equipment and services, previously marginal oil/gas assets and alternative technologies that reduce the financial and environmental cost of energy for the end user.
'Simmons has a solid track record of identifying and creating opportunities for profitable private equity investment. Consequently, we have decided to leverage our resident expertise and access to deal flow by establishing a dedicated private equity fund in parallel with our existing corporate finance business,' he added.
Simmons has offices it Houston, Boston, Aberdeen, London, Oslo and Dubai.
