Darby Overseas Investments, the private equity arm of investment management group Franklin Templeton Investments, has appointed David Hudson as senior managing director to lead the firm's Asia operations and its global infrastructure initiatives. Hudson will be based in Hong Kong. In his new role, he will focus on developing Darby's private equity and mezzanine investment activities across Asia, which currently consist of three funds managed by teams in Hong Kong, Seoul and Mumbai.
Hudson will also look to develop the firm's infrastructure-related activities on a global basis, according to the firm.
Hudson joins Darby from ING Group, where he most recently served as president and CEO, Americas, Wholesale Banking. Previously, he worked at Salomon Brothers and JPMorgan.
Hudson will report to CEO Richard Frank.
Frank said, 'David brings an outstanding background in international finance to Darby. His deep experience both in Asia and in infrastructure investing around the world provides a unique opportunity to develop the Darby platform in these two critical and fast growing areas.'
