Communications-focused private equity firm GMT Communications Partners has appointed Ian McKenzie as senior advisor and Maria Trokoudes as a senior associate. McKenzie is the former executive chairman of Invitel, a fixed line telecoms provider in Hungary, which was a GMT portfolio company from 2003 to 2007.
He also spent 32 years at British Telecom in a number of senior roles in the UK and Europe, and later as COO for the Asia Pacific region. On leaving the company in 2000, he then became COO of Kingston Communications. McKenzie subsequently served as an independent consultant to private equity firms investing in the telecommunications industry, including GMT, before spending four years at Invitel.
McKenzie is currently non-executive chairman of UK-based Daisy Communications and Czech Republic-based Ceské Radiokominikace.
Trokoudes joins GMT from McKinsey & Company, where she served as an engagement manager in the firm's media and entertainment practice. Previously, she worked at Goldman Sachs and as a consultant at The World Bank.

GMT provides buy-out and expansion capital exclusively to European companies in the communications sector.
Last month the firm agreed to sell Finnish business and credit information company Asiakastieto to Investcorp.
