Energy-focused private equity firm Lime Rock Partners has closed its fifth fund, Lime Rock Partners V, on $1.4bn. Capital came from 78 institutional investors, according to the firm. These included endowments, foundations and pension funds, with 91 per cent of commitments coming from existing investors. The firm began fundraising in February 2008.
Jonathan Farber, managing director, Lime Rock, said, 'We are grateful for - and humbled by - the support of the investors in Lime Rock Partners V. Almost all of the investors in Lime Rock Partners IV also made capital commitments to the new fund. The straightforwardness and speed of the fundraising process was a testament to our outstanding investors and the strong partnerships we have built with them over the last ten years.'
Lime Rock operates through offices in Aberdeen, Scotland and Houston and Westport in the US.
The firm's previous fund, Lime Rock Partners IV, closed in September 2006, on $750m. Lime Rock also manages the $450m Lime Rock Resources fund, which directly acquires and operates oil and gas properties in the US.
