Cinven hires partners, principal for new Hong Kong office05/09/2008. Source: AltAssets. 
Cinven has appointed Joseph Wan as a partner and Richard Cheung as a principal. Wan and Cheung will initially be based in London and prepare the opening of Cinven's Hong Kong office in early 2009. Wan joins from The Boston Consulting Group in Hong Kong, where he has been a partner and managing director since 2001. Prior to that, he Joseph was at Credit Suisse First Boston/Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Asia.
Cheung has been a partner at McKinsey & Company, a company he joined in 2002. Before that, he was China business development director for Newpower Corporation.
Cinven managing partner Robin Hall said, 'While our European focus and investment strategy remains unchanged, the opening of an office in Hong Kong is a natural step for Cinven. The Hong Kong office will support our European offices and portfolio companies and we look forward to working with both Joseph and Richard.'
Cinven focuses on acquiring companies valued at €500m and above. The firm focuses on sectors including services, healthcare, industrials, consumer and TMT. It currently has offices in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan. In addition to the Hong Kong office, Cinven also plans to open a new office in New York.
Cinven is reportedly preparing to raise a €8-10bn fund, the firm's fifth.
