Despite this decline, early-stage companies increased their share of total venture capital invested, receiving 19 per cent of total capital invested, an increase on 16 per cent received in the fourth quarter of last year. This suggests that venture capitalists are starting to make more new investments rather than concentrating on follow-on rounds.
