London-based mid-market private equity firm Alchemy Partners has acquired optical fibre network company Geo from technology corporation Hutchison Whampoa Group, in a deal worth £62m.

Geo owns a 2,500km optical fibre network across the UK. It also owns an 80km fibre network in Thames Water's sewer network in London. The company designs and builds bespoke data networks for UK businesses including Carphone Warehouse, Tiscali and 3UK.

Jon Moulton, managing partner, Alchemy Partners, said, 'We are delighted the acquisition of Geo has completed. Alchemy was established in 1997. The firm looks for equity investments of between £25m and £160m.
