Early stage venture capital firm Sofinnova Ventures has appointed David Hytha to the firm's IT team as an executive-in-residence.
Hytha will help Sofinnova identify investment opportunities in the mobile telecommunications sector and also work with portfolio companies to build and grow their businesses.

David offers tremendous insight on technology issues, market opportunities and global operations within domestic and international organisations.'
Previously, Hytha was an executive vice president at T-Mobile. He began his career at AT&T in the early 1980s and established both its semiconductor business and wireless infrastructure operations in Japan. While at AT&T, he also founded the first department of Bell Laboratories outside the US.
Hytha serves on the board of directors of Streamezzo, Renaissance Wireless and Catalyst Mobile.
Sofinnova specialises in early stage life science and IT investments. The firm closed its most recent fund, Sofinnova Venture Partners VII, in 2006, on $375m.
