Gryphon Investors appoints Dennis O'Brien as operating partnerSan Francisco-based private equity firm Gryphon Investors has appointed Dennis F O'Brien as a partner. O'Brien will join Gryphon's operating resources group and will monitor and improve the performance of some of Gryphon's portfolio companies.
Will Lynn, partner of Gryphon's operations resources group, said, 'Dennis has a superb track record of sales, marketing and general management achievements. He also has a strong history of developing great managers and solid teams, which are critical skills for us.'
O'Brien previously served as president and COO of ConAgra's packaged food business. He has also served as CEO of Penta Water Company. O'Brien began his career in consumer promotion and sales at P&G, then progressed to brand marketing at Nestle Foods and Pepperidge Farm/Cambell Soup Co. He then became senior vice president/ general manager of Armstrong Industries' consumer and commercial floor product business.
Gryphon focuses on leveraged acquisitions and growth investments in mid-market companies. Recently, it raised $100m for its Gryphon III Annex Fund through a rights offering with its limited partners.
