Dubai International Capital has appointed David Smoot, co-founding partner of Morgan Stanley Private Equity, as managing director, private equity.
Smoot, a trained lawyer, will report to DIC Private Equity CEO Sylvain Denis.
During his 11 years at Morgan Stanley he was a member of the investment committee at Morgan Stanley Private Equity, led portfolio investments and helped build the New York and London teams. Prior to co-founding the Private Equity Group he was managing director, financial sponsors.
Before joining Morgan Stanley, Smoot spent three years at Salomon Brothers, where he specialised in energy and chemicals investment banking.
Denis said, 'David has exceptional experience and relationships in the private equity field as well as expertise in building a best-in-class team. I look forward to working with him on the development of our growth strategy for DIC's business in North America.'
With $12bn of assets under management, DIC invests in both private and public equity. DIC Private Equity invests mainly in secondary buy-outs in developed markets.

DIC hires Smoot from Morgan Stanley Private Equity
