A total of ten Asia-focused (including China) private equity funds raised $12.02bn in Q2 2008, according to the China Private Equity Q2 2008 report released by Beijing-based Zero2IPO Group.
The amount was up 107.6 per cent from the same period in 2007 but down nearly 40 per cent from the first quarter of this year.
On the investment side, over 30 private equity firms put $2.56bn into 37 Chinese enterprises in Q2, with 63.3 per cent of this being in traditional industries.
The number of exits continued to decline, with only five exits occurring in Q2, all IPOs.
