Oslo-listed video conference systems company Tandberg has confirmed that it had been approached by a private equity firm. It is not known which private equity firm has made the approach but media speculation suggests that it could be Silver Lake.

It is believed that the announcement would trigger further interest in the company from both financial and trade buyers.

Tandberg has dual headquarters in Oslo and New York. The company employs close to 1,000 people.

Silver Lake is an investment firm focused on large-scale investments in technology-driven growth industries. On 26 October 2007, Silver Lake, TPG, company management and co-investors acquired communications solutions provider Avaya in a public-to-private, leveraged buy-out transaction.
