New York and London-based Clayton, Dubilier & Rice has agreed to acquire materials testing business Bodycote Testing Group from UK engineering company Bodycote in a transaction valued at approximately £417m.
The price being paid is above what was expected. Analysts had estimated the deal would be worth between £250m and £350m, according to the Financial Times.
CD&R operating partner Fred Kindle will serve as chairman of BTG.
BTG provides technical and engineering services to the aerospace, energy, oil and gas, civil engineering, transportation, pharmaceutical, food, consumer products and medical device industries. The business operates 130 laboratories in about 25 countries.
CD&R, founded in 1978, has invested in companies including Rexel Group, Hertz Global Holdings, Sally Beauty Holdings and The ServiceMaster Company.
