3i will close its Menlo Park office, following its decision to move away from early stage venture. The firm's strategy in North America is to focus on mid-market private equity and infrastructure opportunities.
In September, AltAssets reported that 3i invested only £622m during the five months ended 31 August, significantly less than the £1.012bn invested in the equivalent period last year.
Speaking at the time, Philip Yea, 3i chief executive, explained that the firm was being highly selective in terms of new investment.
3i specialises in growth capital, buy-outs, infrastructure and quoted private equity across North America, Europe and Asia.
