Capricorn Cleantech Fund has invested €3.5m in Norwegian company Metallkraft in its bid to expand the use of recycled slurry in the manufacturing of silicon solar modules.
The company expects to raise €22.8m from this round of financing.
Gunnar Kalia, CEO of Metallkraft, said, 'Metallkraft contributes substantially to the greening of Mother Earth. Our technology cuts wafer slurry costs significantly, thereby bringing the solar industry towards the shared goal of grid parity. This is, however, a continuous process and Metallkraft aims to be at the forefront of the development.'
Paul Decraemer, head of Cleantech Investment Practice, Capricorn, commented, 'We are particularly pleased that our Capricorn Cleantech Fund can join a leading group of Norwegian and International investors in this oversubscribed round of financing of €22.8m. We are convinced that Metallkraft will play a key role on the international scene as a leading enabler in the solar industry.'
In addition, Metallkraft is on the verge of completing full installation in its Yangzhou plant, expected to be operational in February 2009.
