Platina Partners, a private equity fund manager specialising in renewable energy and buy-outs, has acquired 52MW of the 140MW Fruges wind farms in France from Infigen Energy through its European Renewable Energy Fund I (EREF), bringing the fund’s total capacity under construction or in operation to 139.5MW.
The deal sees Platina pay Infigen €71.3m through its subsidiary.
The investment is EREF’s first since its final close on 29 March 2010 and tenth in all, it continues EREF’s investment strategy of assembling a portfolio of operational renewable electricity generation projects across Europe.
Debt financing for the investment was provided by NordLB and advisers to EREF were Norton Rose, Lovells, Augusta & Co, and Mott McDonald for technical due diligence.
Since its inception, Platina has been involved in a combined construction and operational portfolio of over 300MW. Its European development portfolio comprises over 1,000MW of wind, solar, hydro and biomass projects.
