Almeida Capital has hired Mitch Cybulski as chairman of the board of directors. Cybulski was previously chairman of Smithkline Beecham where he was responsible for the firm's pharmaceutical and consumer operations outside Europe and the US.

James McNaught-Davis has joined Advent Ventures, the IT and healthcare venture capital firm. McNaught Davis was previously at Warburg Pincus for four and a half years where he focused on IT investments and Europe.

TA Associates announced that it has rehired Bruce Johnston as managing director in its Boston office. Johnston will focus on buy-outs and recapitalisations of technology companies.

Royal Bank of Scotland is to expand its senior leveraged finance team in Frankfurt from nine to 16. Dan Schweizer from BHF Bank will head the seven new appointments, including Axel Sommer and Degenhard Schroeren from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasswerstein and Deutsche Bank respectively. Andre Simon, also from BHF Bank, will join as manager. The other appointments are to be made in October.

Alain Bravo has been appointed to the advisory board of ETF Group. Bravo will provide expertise in the telecoms sector and will advise on opportunities for its portfolio companies. Bravo is advisor to the president of Alcatel and began his career with France Telécom.

CGMI@Ventures has lost four investing partners over the summer. Jon Callaghan, Scott Case, Gary Curtis and Josh Daniels have left the firm, leaving five partners. The firm had 12 last year.

US firm General Atlantic Partners announced the appointment of William Lansing as the firm's seventeenth partner. He will be based in the Palo Alto office as the firm is keen to increase its West Coast presence.

Mat Bhagrath is to join Grant Thornton Corporate Finance from Invex Capital. Bhagrath will join the lead advisory group in London which focuses strongly on venture capital.

Bjoern Christensen will replace Dirk Lupberger as the new managing director of Siemens venture capital unit. Siemens has reorganised its VC units into one single unit but has stressed that there will be no change to its activities.

J. Edmund Colloton has joined Bessemer Venture Partners as a general partner and chief operating officer. He replaces the retiring Robert H. Buescher who has been with the firm for 34 years.

Canaan Partners has announced the addition of two principals and one venture partner to its investment team. Thomas Mawhinney, former COO of North Systems and Dr Andrew Firlik, previously a Canaan venture associate, have been appointed as principals while Mark Mangiola, former CEO of @Home Solutions, is the new venture partner.

Linklaters has boosted its private equity team with the addition of Graham White to its corporate department. White joins from SJ Berwin where he was a partner and his appointment will allow Linklaters to expand its private equity offering in London.

Duke Street Capital Debt Management has appointed Stacy Green as associate director. Green is responsible for monitoring portfolio assets and collating data for the firm's debt arm. She has previously worked for KPMG in London and Houston where she managed financial institution audits.
- David Salisbury has stepped down from his post as chief executive at Schroders following poor performance and large private equity write-offs. Chairman Peter Sedgwick will take over as chief executive until a permanent replacement is found.
