Texas Pacific Group has named Vivek Paul as a partner in its venture fund, specialising in technology and life sciences. In pursuing opportunities for the venture capital funds, Mr. Paul will work closely with the professionals of Texas Pacific Group and its Asian affiliate, Newbridge Capital, who together manage a global portfolio of approximately $70bn in revenue.

Paul, 46, was most recently President and CEO of Bangalore-based Wipro Technologies and Vice Chairman of Wipro Ltd. Recently named one of world's 30 Most Respected CEOs by Barron's Magazine, Paul was also selected as one of the TIME/CNN 25 Global Business Influentials for 2004 and rated by Business Week as one of the Best Managers globally for 2003.

Life Sciences Partners has announced that Andy Allars will be joining their investment team as a part time venture partner. Life Sciences Partners is a European Life Science venture capital fund managers with €225m under management and has recently had a first closing on its third fund. Andy Allars has 15 years experience in life science venture capital investment management and until last year was head of life science investing at Prelude Ventures Ltd.

Martijn Kleijwegt, Managing Partner at LSP, commented, "I've known Andy for many years and I would like to welcome him to our team. Andy brings a wealth of experience to LSP and enhances our knowledge of the UK market. Although we have historically invested in the UK we are now in a position to be more active and hope to co-invest more often with our UK colleagues."

Hopewell Ventures, an $110m venture capital fund, has announced that Jeffrey J. Lampe, 30, has joined the company as a senior associate.

In his role, Lampe will identify investment opportunities, coordinate due diligence, negotiate equity financings, and work with portfolio company management teams on an ongoing basis. Lampe was most recently co-founder and senior associate of Gazelle TechVentures, a $63m Indianapolis-based venture capital firm founded in 1999.

AXA Rosenberg Group, an investment management firm within the AXA Investment Managers group, has announced the appointment of Mikifumi Watanabe as chief executive officer of AXA Rosenberg Investment Management Limited (Japan) . He will replace Bruno Guilloton, who - having completed his five-year assignment as chief executive officer of AXA Rosenberg Japan - will return to France to undertake a new role with AXA Investment Managers.

Morgenthaler Ventures has announced that Nassim Usman has become an entrepreneur-in-residence in the firm focusing on investment opportunities in biotechnology. Most recently Usman served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Sirna Therapeutics, Inc. where he was in charge of business and corporate development, manufacturing, quality and purchasing.

"The Morgenthaler Ventures' Life Science team has depth of experience, an impressive track record and a great approach to building value," said Usman. "It's a pleasure to be working with them."

Advent International has announced the appointment of five new investment executives to its London team.

Ron Ayles joins Advent's Industrials team from 3i, where he spent four years in London and Frankfurt, focusing on the Chemicals and Materials sectors. James Brooks joins Advent's Communications and Late Stage Technology team from the TMT sector team at UBS Investment Bank. Nick Rose joins the Business & Financial Services teams from Bain & Company's private equity practice where he worked on both pre-and post-acquisition work, with a particular focus on Business Services. Tom Allen joins Advent's Healthcare & Life Sciences and Industrials teams, moving from KPMG's private equity team where he advised on public-to-private and cross-border buyouts. Andy Dawson joins Advent's Retail & Media team from OC&C Strategy Consultants, where he focused on Retail, Consumer Goods, Media, Leisure and Technology sector assignments.
