UK venture capital firm Quester has announced a series of management changes. Simon Acland becomes managing director of Quester Capital Management and Quester Venture Managers, and takes overall responsibility for Quester's investment management activities. Iain Wilcock becomes deputy managing director of Quester Capital Management and Quester Venture Managers. He is also responsible for Quester's university fund activities and will continue in that role. Quester manages £200m on behalf of major institutional investors, leading UK universities, and three quoted venture capital trusts.
Waltham, Massachusetts-based venture capital firm Seaflower Ventures has appointed Amin Ladak as a principal. Prior to joining Seaflower Ventures, Ladak was employed with FoldRx Pharmaceuticals, a venture-backed company. Seaflower Ventures focuses on early-stage biomedical investing.
European venture capital firm Iris Capital has appointed Erkan Kilicaslan as partner. Kilicaslan will be responsible for international investments in the media and entertainment, and the communications and IT sectors, especially in the German-speaking region. Prior to joining Iris Capital, he was a partner at Munich-based venture capital fund TecVenture Partners. Iris Capital specialises in media, communications and IT.
Baird Capital Partners, the private equity arm of financial services firm Robert W. Baird & Co., has appointed Aaron Lillybridge as an associate, and Viral Patel and Scott Brown as analysts in Chicago. Lillybridge focuses on Baird Capital Partners' investment opportunities in the manufactured products sector. Prior to joining the firm, Lillybridge was with New York-based private equity firm Galen Partners. Patel and Brown provide analytical and transaction support to Baird Capital Partners' manufactured products and business services teams, respectively. Patel previously worked as an investment banking analyst at Bear Stearns, while Brown worked as an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan.
Kleinwort Capital, the UK lower mid-market specialist, has appointed David Ramsey as an investment manager. Ramsey will be joining the new investment team. Prior to joining Kleinwort Capital, Ramsey was at KPMG Private Equity Group for four years, where he was associate director from 2003. Ramsey has also held positions at strategic advisory boutiques p.Four Consultancy and Basis. Kleinwort Capital focuses on the media, technology, healthcare and specialist manufacturing sectors. The firm has £300m under management.
European mid-market specialist Granville Baird Capital Partners has promoted Simon Havers to managing director and head of the UK team. Havers succeeds Mike Fell, who led GBCP's UK investment team for nearly ten years. At his request, Fell will now focus full time on deal making, GBCP said in a statement. Havers rejoined GBCP in 2002, having previously worked with the company from 1994 to 1998. In between, he spent four years at ABN AMRO Capital.
European mid-market private equity specialist Electra Partners Europe has appointed five new investment professionals. Stephen Evans and Tim Easingwood join the firm's London office as associates. Evans previously worked for Bain & Company. Easingwood is a former Permira investment executive. Andreas Kraemer joins the Frankfurt office as an associate from Morgan Stanley, where he was an associate within the investment banking division. Frederic Azemard and Cedric Rays have become members of Electra Partners Europe's Paris-based team. Azemard joins as an associate from Bain & Company, while Rays joins as a principal from Apax Partners in Paris, where he was a director focusing on investments in the healthcare sector.
The European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association has appointed Dr Helmut M Schühsler, managing partner of the Munich-based venture capital firm TVM, as chairman of the Professional Standards Committee. Dr Schühsler takes over from Hervé Claquin, chief executive officer of ABN Amro Capital Finance, who has held the position since 2001. EVCA's Professional Standards Committee aims to reinforce and develop professional standards for the European private equity and venture capital industry.
