US-based private equity investment firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe has named Richard E Aiello as senior operating executive of the firm. Aiello will be based in New York City and will be responsible for identifying unique business opportunities and trends, evaluating new investment opportunities, deal structuring and initiatives to enhance the growth and performance of the firm's portfolio companies in the information and business services sector. Aiello was previously senior vice president of the Strategic Investments Group at First Data Corp. where he oversaw all merger, acquisition and joint venture activities.
Corporate venture firm Siemens Venture Capital has recently added Markus Mittermaier and Edward Chan as investment professionals in the Boston office to support investment activity within the Corporate Fund and Medical Solutions Fund. Mittermaier joins Siemens Venture Capital as an associate. Prior to this he worked at Citigroup's Investment Banking Division in London and with Alcan Technology and Management in Switzerland. Chan joins SVC as an analyst for their Medical Solutions Fund. Prior to joining SVC, Edward worked as a business analyst at Capital One in Virginia.
New York-based private equity firm Equifin Capital Partners has appointed Renwick A Paige as managing director responsible for investor relations and the syndication of co-investments. Paige joins Equifin from Preston Gates & Ellis where he served as chief marketing officer. Equifin Capital focuses on investments in consumer and commercial finance, asset servicing, capital asset management and other related sectors of the financial services industry.
US buy-out giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. has appointed Hisashi Hosokawa as a senior advisor in Japan. Prior to joining KKR Hosokawa worked in Japan's Ministry of Economics, Trade & Industry. During his career at MITI he served in a number of areas, including the Directorate of Science, Technology and Industry, the Budget Division, the Trade Policy Bureau, the Petroleum Department of the Energy and Natural Resources Agency, the Commercial and Distribution Affairs, and the Basic Industry Bureau.
Henderson Private Capital, the private equity operation of Henderson Global Investors, has appointed Carol Lee and Sigit Prasetya as senior principals to the Asia team. Lee and Prasetya will be joining the Hong Kong and Singapore offices, respectively. Both will concentrate on sourcing, executing and managing investments, with Lee focusing on South Korea, and Prasetya focusing on South East Asia. Previously Lee worked at Merrill Lynch and JPMorgan, originating, executing and exiting investments across Asia. Prasetya joins from Morgan Stanley, where he was the head of its investment banking business in Indonesia.
California-based venture capital partnership BA Venture Partners has added Chad Kinzelberg, Ben Fu and Nancy Lynch to its investment team. Kinzelberg joins BAVP as a director to focus on software investments. Fu joins the software team as an associate, and Lynch is the new associate on the healthcare team. Most recently Kinzelberg was general manager and senior vice president of Verisign's SSL business unit. Fu comes to BAVP following three years as a senior sales engineer with security software company IMlogic, recently acquired by Symantec Corp. Lynch joins BAVP following the completion of her MBA degree with a focus in health sector management.
