Venrock Associates, a venture capital firm focusing on early stage investments, has appointed two new venture partners, Bill Rastetter to the Menlo Park, California, office and David Molowa to the New York office. Rastetter comes to Venrock from Biogen Idec where he was most recently executive chairman. Molowa was a managing director at UBS Securities in New York. He oversaw research in life science equities.

Advent International has appointed Francesco de Giglio as chairman of the Italian office. His appointment brings Advent's Italian team to five people. De Giglio will work alongside existing managing director John Singer and principals Filippo de Vecchi and Giovanni Galasso.

California-based investment management and advisory firm Pacific Corporate Group has announced that it has accepted the resignations of four individuals: president Monte Brem and managing directors Tara Blackburn, Stephen Moseley and Michael Russell.

IDG Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm focused on investing in information and healthcare technology companies, has appointed Christoph Westphal as a senior advisor and chairman of its new Life Sciences Advisory Board. Westphal serves as chief executive officer and vice chairman of Sirtris Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company developing and commercialising therapeutics that modulate sirtuins, a recently discovered family of enzymes that promotes the body's natural defense against disease.

Christophe Florin, AXA managing director for Asia, has been appointed member of the AXA Private Equity Executive Board. He will now - in addition to his responsibilities as head of operations in Asia - contribute to defining the worldwide strategy for AXA Private Equity. Florin will join Dominique Senequier, chief executive officer and chairman of the executive board; Dominique Gaillard, managing director of direct funds; Vincent Gombault, managing director of funds of funds; and Stephan Illenberger, managing director for Germany.

Aberdeen Asset Managers Private Equity, a division of Aberdeen Asset Managers, has appointed Colin Stirling as director of investment and Denise Emmanuel as investment manager. They join Aberdeen's national mid-market private equity team, increasing the size of the team to seven executives.
