General Atlantic has promoted to managing director: Jonathan C Korngold, head of the healthcare sector; Anton J Levy, head of the consumer media and marketing services sector; Christopher G Lanning, general counsel; Thomas J Murphy, chief financial officer; Andrew C Pearson, head of portfolio management; and David A Rosenstein, general counsel. In addition, Sunish Sharma, based in Mumbai, and Xiaomeng (Sean) Tong, based in Hong Kong, have been promoted to the position of principal.
UK lower mid-market private equity firm August Equity has appointed Keith Davidson as investment manager. Davidson will be responsible for originating deals across the firm's four target sectors: media, healthcare, technology and specialist manufacturing. Davidson joins August Equity from PricewaterhouseCoopers. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen in 2002.
Redwood Shores, California-based early stage venture capital firm Woodside Fund has appointed Mark Hoover as venture partner. Prior to joining Woodside Fund Hoover was the co-founder and president of Acuitive, a consulting firm working with entrepreneurs at early stage technology companies to formulate product and market strategies. Earlier in his career, he was a senior executive at Synoptics/Bay Networks and also served in engineering and management roles at AT&T Bell Labs and AT&T Computer Systems.
Baird Capital Partners, the US-based buy-out fund affiliate of investment firm Robert W. Baird & Co., has appointed Dan A DeCanniere as an operating partner. DeCanniere will work with BCP's business services team. Most recently DeCanniere served as chief financial officer for Hewitt Associates. Prior to Hewitt, he served as a senior executive at architectural/engineering firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, consulting firm Peterson & Co. Consulting, and accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co.
Technology-focused US private equity firm Silver Lake Partners has appointed Michael D Capellas as a senior advisor. Capellas will work closely with the senior leadership and value creation teams at Silver Lake to help identify and develop new investment opportunities and advise existing portfolio companies.
SVB Financial Group has appointed Jon Norris as a managing director for SVB Capital Private Equity Group. Norris will lead the private equity group's life science efforts. In this role, Norris is expected to strengthen relationships with life science-focused venture capital firms by leveraging SVB's platform of strategic business units, including investment and commercial banking, as well as global and analytical services.
