AIG Global Investment Group has appointed Ion Bogdaneris as managing director of alternative investments Europe. In his new role, Bogdaneris will oversee a wide range of alternative investment strategies for AIGGIG. He will be based in the London office and report to Robert Thompson, senior managing director and head of global alternative investments based in New York.

NBGI Private Equity has appointed Nick Gibbons as investment manager. Gibbons previously worked at Centrica for four years in corporate strategy, commercial and business development positions. Prior to Centrica, Gibbons worked for LEK Consulting. This further expansion of the team comes as the firm looks to increase its rate of investment execution and management capacity, NBGI Private Equity explained in a statement. NBGI Private Equity focuses on 'traditional economy' companies. It invests £2-15m of equity, principally into buy-outs and buy-ins but also development capital and turnarounds with transaction values of £5-50m.

Silicon Valley early stage communications venture capital firm ComVentures has appointed Keyur Patel as a partner. Patel is the founder of four start-ups and previously also worked in senior management positions at two global technology corporations. In his new role Patel will focus on identifying investment opportunities and he will work with both new and existing portfolio companies. Prior to joining ComVentures, Patel served as the head of consumer products and chief strategy officer at Maxtor Corporation. Prior to Maxtor, he led the turnaround at Inktomi. Patel also founded Brience, Metrius, Webvibe and Phoenix Software. Before that, Patel served as chief strategy officer of KPMG Consulting Worldwide and managing partner of the Price Waterhouse Technology Consulting Practice.
