Daniel Mytnik has been appointed principal of Palamon Capital Partners, a €1.1bn private equity firm. Mytnik is now responsible for expanding Palamon's existing capabilities, along with participating in the firm's investment program across Western Europe. He joins Palamon from Altium, where he was a managing director. Prior to that, he worked with Morgan Stanley Private Equity in the firm's London office.
Primary Capital has announced the addition of two new associates, Brett Corkery and Alistair Armstrong. Corkery, a chartered financial analyst, joins Primary from Macquarie Funds Management. Armstrong worked for the financial services team of the transaction services division of PwC prior to that.
General Atlantic sees Ray Bingham join as managing director and head of their Palo Alto office. Bingham served in executive management roles at Cadence Design Systems, an electronics design automation software company. He was named their executive chairman in May 2004, after serving as president and CEO since May 1999. He joined Cadence in 1993 as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Advent International, a global private equity group, has broadened its North American team with six new members. Jeff Case and John Maldonado join as principals and David Chen, Bryan Doherty, Kevin McQuarrie, and Thomas Weisman as associates. All new members will be supporting Advent's $3.3bn GPE buy-out program which invests primarily in North America and Western Europe.
VC firm Battery Ventures had added David Dreessen at partner-level, Dreessen joining after seven years service with Nth Power. During that time, he worked on 16 technology investments and served in interim senior management positions for three portfolio companies. The firm also announced that Jason Matlof has been promoted from venture partner to partner at Battery.
US venture capital house Sevin Rosen has appointed Dr William D Paiva as a venture partner. Dr Paiva will aide the firm in evaluating new markets and support start-ups in their development of technology applications for life sciences. Dr Paiva manages investments for Chisholm Private Capital Partners and the Oklahoma Life Sciences Fund. Prior to Chisholm, he served as a management consultant for the life sciences industry group at Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath. Dr Paiva also served as an investment banking associate at JPMorgan, providing strategic and investment banking advisory services to Fortune 100 healthcare companies.
US-based venture capital firm Novak Biddle Venture Partners has updated its team, promoting three investment professionals and its CFO to general partners: Philip Bronner, Andrea Kaufman, Tom Scholl, and CFO Joy Binford. In addition, Janet Yang has been brought in at director level, bringing international and operational experience to NBVP.
After 17 years of service, Reinhard Löffler has retired from the board of management at German private equity company Deutsche Beteiligungs AG. Löffler will continue to work for the company in a consulting capacity. Löffler held leadership positions in mid-sized enterprises prior to joining Deutsche Beteiligungs AG in 1985.
