Middle market private equity house, Dunedin, has appointed Giles Derry and Mark Ligertwood to director level. Derry joins the firm from Sand Aire Private Equity after it was acquired by Dunedin in 2005. Prior to that, he qualified as a chartered accountant at Arthur Andersen. Derry has recently managed successful exits from Home & Legacy and Celtic Inns. Ligertwood had previously been with Ernst & Young's corporate finance department where he qualified as a chartered accountant. Recently Ligertwood raised capital for the Dunedin Buyout Fund II, which closed at £250m, £50m above its initial target.
Monte R Haymon was appointed operating partner for private equity firm The Watermill Group. Previously Haymon was president and CEO of Sappi Fine Paper North America. Watermill focuses on acquiring middle-market companies in which it can add value through strategic and operational guidance as well investment capital.
Woodside Capital, a private investment firm, has announced the addition of two former Watermill Group members, Benjamin P Procter and Brett J L'Esperance. Woodside Capital is a provider of high yield and private equity capital to the smaller end of the middle market. Woodside has invested with Watermill in three of the Watermill's most recent transactions, according to Karol.
UK-based venture capital investor, Quester, has promoted Sergio Levi from investment director to director. He will remain responsible for sourcing, implementing, and managing investments in the Semiconductor and Electronics sectors. Levi joined Quester in January 2006 after six years as a vice president at ON Semiconductor. Prior to that, he was with Texas Instruments.
