GI Partners appointed Kristen Mary to join as director of Investor Relations. GI Partners recently closed its second fund on $1.45bn in July 2006 with commitments from pension funds, government entities and banks from the US, Europe and the Middle East. GI's first fund included the establishment and listing of Digital Realty Trust, a real estate investment trust and the UK public to private of pub and restaurant operator Yates Group. The firm has offices in London, Menlo Park, and California.
TPG Ventures has appointed Varun Kapur, a former executive at Intel Corporation's strategic investment unit, Intel Capital, as partner. Kapur will lead TPGV's expansion stage, smaller buy-out and growth-oriented investments in India from the firm's Mumbai office. He will also have additional responsibility for growth and expansion investments in Japan, Australia and parts of Southeast Asia. Kapur was most recently one of two managing directors of Intel Capital in Asia, the strategic investment division of Intel Corporation. His primary responsibility was for Intel Capital's activities in India, Japan, South East Asia and Australia.
Jonas Risberg has been appointed partner for venture capital firm 3i. Risberg is responsible for investing in IT and communications businesses in the Nordic region. He is one of nine partners working across the Nordic region and will be based in Stockholm. Risberg joins 3i from InnovationsKapital, where he was a partner investing in IT. Prior to that, Risberg was vice president, Country Business Group, at WorldCom. During his career, he has also held several executive, sales and marketing positions at IBM and Ericsson, where he started his career.
