3i has acquired a minority stake in Electrawinds, a renewable energy company in Belgium, for €30m. Electrawinds plans to use the investment to develop new energy projects in Belgium and overseas. Electrawinds, which operates in Belgium and Italy, currently has 45MW of installed capacity in wind and biomass energy. Electrawinds is aiming for turnover of €22.8m in 2006, €50m in 2007 and €100m in 2008, according to a statement.
The Manchester-based team of Barclays Ventures has backed the MBO of MSW Suspended Flooring System Solutions. MSW is a UK installer of steel deck flooring systems into multi-rise new build projects. Barclays Ventures has backed the CEO, Derek Johnston, who has led the MBO. Johnston will be joined by Jim Paul as non-executive chairman.
NORD Holding Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft mbH is to acquire the R & M Ship Technologies Group from Bilfinger Berger Group. NORD Holding will buy a 70 per cent stake in the holding company, while CEO Joachim Buttke and his
management team will take a 30 per cent stake.
Funds managed by CapMan have sold their activities in ECO-DAN, a Danish provider of guidance systems used for precision farming, to a European manufacturer of agricultural equipment. The products of ECO-DAN aim to enable farmers to work more efficiently and economically.
Lyceum Capital, a private equity firm investing in mid-market consumer and business services companies, has invested in SPI Group, a UK building services company. SPI Group employs 500 people and has turnover in excess of £38m, according to a statement.
