Investment banking boutique Livingstone has hired two new senior professionals. Paul Catalano has been brought in as a managing director and head of the firm's Media & Technology (media:tech) practice. David Hassman joins the firm as a vice president and will work closely with Catalano and the established London media:tech team. Catalano has spent over 13 years in the technology sector including internet services, consumer electronics, broadband, telecommunications, enterprise IT and digital media. Prior to joining Livingstone, Catalano was managing partner at RelevantC Business Group, where he led its Strategy and M&A Advisory practice and advised over 150 clients in their market expansion activities. Hassman joins the firm with a decade of technology sector experience and from RCBG, where he advised global technology companies and venture capital firms. Hassman previously held corporate development roles at Motorola and Level 3 Communications.

Swiss and German venture capital fund Global Life Science Ventures has promoted Dr Kuno Jung to principal. Jung joined GLSV as an investment manager in the Zug office in 2006, bringing with him earlier experience in venture capital and in managing a start-up. In 2001, he had co-founded Aravis Ventures that focused on life sciences, and subsequently served as CEO of Timaq Medical Imaging, a Swiss clinical research company he joined at its founding in 2003. Since joining GLSV, Jung has been involved in a wide range of investment-related activities, including deal sourcing, analysing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence and arranging investor syndicates. He is also representing GLSV as member of the supervisory board of Action Pharma, Denmark, whose Series D he led in December 2007.

New York-based private equity firm Circle Peak Capital has promoted James H Clippard and Holbrook M Forusz to principal. Clippard joined Circle Peak in June 2005 after spending five years in financial services. Forusz joined Circle Peak as a senior associate in June 2005, having previously worked in banking at Provident Bank and in private equity at the Walnut Group.

Private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners has hired Evan Marks and Victor Cohen. Marks joins the Vestar Resources team as a principal and Cohen will serve as a vice president. Both will be based in Vestar's New York office.

US-based private equity firm DPEC Partners has appointed Jack Laschever as a senior managing director of venture capital. His responsibilities will include private equity acquisitions for the firm's affiliates, InvestProperty Group and InvestBio, and the strategic implementation and expansion of DPEC Partner's luxury development brand, Algodon. Laschever was formerly vice president and group publisher of ForbesLife, a luxury travel and lifestyle magazine for Forbes Magazine subscribers. Laschever was one of the founders of European Travel & Life and spent nearly ten years at American Express publishing where he served as associate publisher of Travel & Leisure. He also served as vice president group publisher overseeing Departures Magazine and Skyguide and as publisher of GQ magazine and president of the Miller Sports Group, where he was responsible for Tennis Magazine, Sailing World and Cruising World.

Private equity firm Auda Private Equity has recently hired Tim Brody as a managing director and head of the Private Equity Secondary Program. Brody has joined Auda from AlpInvest Partners, where he was a senior member of the Secondary Investments Group.

Expansion stage venture capital firm Granite Global Ventures has hired Alvin Sun as a partner in its GGV Shanghai office. Sun joins GGV from ePlanet Ventures, where he participated in the establishment of the ePlanet Beijing office.

New York-based private equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners has named two new operating directors. Larry Resnick will join Arsenal to enhance its investment sourcing and operating skills in the aerospace and defence industry. Anthony Giorgio will help increase the firm's expertise in investment sourcing and execution capabilities in the specialty chemicals and materials sector.

The European Investment Fund, advisor to the Istanbul Venture Capital Initiative, has selected Akin Ongor to join the programme as chairman of the iVCi Strategic Network. The objective of the network is to serve as a conduit for the sharing of ideas about the latest trends in the private sector and to further understanding of risk capital in the private sector. A former Turkish national team basketball player, Ongor worked at Pamuk Bank for four years before joining Garanti in 1986, where he spent the following 17 years, nine of them as CEO. Ongor is currently chairman of the World Wide Fund for Nature - Turkey and leads various philanthropic projects, especially in Bodrum where he spends most of his time.
