US venture capital firm Voyager Capital has hired Diane Fraiman as a partner to focus on internet, software and digital media investments. Fraiman was previously senior vice president of marketing and business development for Sanctum, a start-up providing web application security software. Prior to that, she was vice president of worldwide marketing for Informix Software. Voyager has $370m under management and has offices in Seattle, Menlo Park and Portland.

Miami-based Trivest Partners has hired Todd V Jerles and David P Briedis as vice president and associate respectively. Jerles and Briedis will assist Trivest in the analysis of investment opportunities and the acquisition and oversight of portfolio companies. They will also participate in deal-sourcing activities. Jerles joins Trvest after receiving his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has also completed an internship at private equity firm Clearview Capital. Jerles has worked for Lehman Brothers in New York. Briedis was formerly with Piper Jaffray & Co, where he was an investment banking analyst.

Chicago-based mid-market private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital has appointed Frank J Feraco as an industry operating partner. Feraco will work with portfolio companies and advise on new platform investment opportunities. Feraco has held senior positions at Emerson Electric Company, Danaher Corporation, Textron, Pentair and The Kohler Company.

California-based private equity firm Lovell Minnick Partners has hired John D Cochran as principal in the firm's California office. Cochran will be responsible for finding and analysing new investment opportunities in the financial services industry. Cochran was previously principal at SV Investment Partners, formerly Schroder Ventures US. Prior to SV, Cochran was an analyst with JW Childs Associates, a $3bn mid-market private equity firm. Cochran began his career as a financial analyst at Salomon Brothers.

New York-headquartered private equity firm Avista Capital Partners has hired Dr Patrick J O'Neill as healthcare industry advisor. Dr O'Neill worked for Johnson & Johnson from 1976, until his retirement in 2006. He held leadership positions in research and development and new business development in the pharmaceutical, medical devices and diagnostics and the surgical and interventional cardiology business units at Johnson & Johnson.

Apollo Global Management has appointed Gary M Stein to the newly created position of director of investor relations. Stein will be responsible for establishing and maintaining interactions with current and prospective investors, research analysts and the general investment community. He joins Apollo from NYSE Euronext, where he most recently served as the head of investor relations. He previously also worked at Morgan Stanley and Patricof & Co. Ventures.

Shailendra Bhandari has reportedly joined Mumbai-based Tata Capital. Bhandari will lead the firm's private equity division. The firm is expected to expand its private equity investment activities. Bhandari was previously managing director and CEO of Centurion Bank of Punjab. Tata Capital is a subsidiary of Tata Sons.

Thomas Mossberg, executive vice president of Swedish private equity firm Ratos, has retired, having reached his contractual retirement age of 62. Mossberg has held the position since 1988. Ratos has not yet announced who will be taking over from Mossberg. He will continue with Ratos as a senior advisor, on a part-time basis. This will allow him to carry on with some of his former operational duties.

UK pension fund investment manager Hermes has hired Glyn Jones as its new chairman. Jones is taking over from Richard Bernays who will retire. Jones was previously chief executive of Thames River Capital and Gartmore Investment Management. His career has also included being chief executive of Coutts Group, the private banking arm of NatWest Bank. Currently, Jones is chairman of UK wealth manager Towry Law Group and Aspen Insurance Holdings, a New York-listed speciality insurer and re-insurer.
