POWER SEARCHING TIPS
Target a specific section of the service
1. Use the first drop-down field to target your
search against a single area of AltAssets' content.
The default ('Search all of AltAssets') searches
the entire service.
Balance the precision of the search vs
the number of search results
2. Use the second drop-down field to vary the
number of search results found. The default ('Find
ANY word') returns the largest number of search
results. The other options ('Find ALL words' and
'Find EXACT phrase') increase the precision of
your search, but return fewer results.
Follow-on search, with extra search terms
3. After you've done a search, you can tick the
'within results' checkbox to launch a subsequent
search for extra keywords, while restricting this
new search to just those articles found by your
earlier search.
Sorting search results by date order
4. After you've done a search, you can select
the bottom drop-down field which reads as a default:
'sort by relevancy', change this to read 'sort
by date', and re-run the search to sort the results
list by the most recently published material first.
Use boolean logic
5. AltAssets' search engine also supports boolean
logic. E.g.
- The following search would find all articles
with the word 'SMEs', but the articles found MUST
also contain the phrase 'investment strategies':
SMEs +"investment strategies"
- The following search would find all articles
with the words 'mezzanine' OR buy-out AND European
but NOT Asian:
(mezzanine or buy-out) +European -Asian
